Dr Richard Brennan

Rick Brennan AO, MBBS, MPH, FACEM, FIFEM is an emergency medicine and public health physician specialising in humanitarian assistance, pandemic preparedness, and emergency management. He has experience in over 50 counties across five continents, most recently as Regional Emergency Director for the World Health Organization in the Eastern Mediterranean.


Rick has also held senior management and technical positions with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), JSI Research and Training, and the US CDC. Clinically, he has worked in Australia, the United States and Eastern Europe, including as a staff specialist at Westmead Hospital. In January 2025, Rick retired from WHO after 13 years and is now engaging in consultancy, academic, and advocacy work.
