Dr Louise Woodward

Dr Louise Woodward is a Northern Territory paediatrician living in Darwin who has grown frustrated by the lack of action on climate change and the wilful disregard of public safety by fossil fuel companies and governments. She is advocating against the expansion of the gas industry due to the risk to human health and the climate, and wants governments to address poor air and water quality due to fossil fuel production which disproportionately impact poorer communities known as "fossil fuel sacrifice zones".

She successfully led a campaign with DEA and Parents for Climate Action for a senate inquiry into the Middle Arm gas hub proposed for Darwin harbour and is now working on a campaign for a federal Clean Air Act with the Climate and Health Alliance.

Her environmental advocacy has been in partnership with local indigenous leaders, pairing scientific evidence with indigenous knowledge in order to highlight the important and intricate relationship between health and country.
