The Medical Republic: Gov commits to prepare health for climate change

Doctors are cautioning that federal government environmental reforms fall short in the same week that Australia co-signed a worldwide action plan to reduce the impact of climate change on health systems.

Human health effects are not included in the proposed definition of "unacceptable impacts," according to Doctors for the Environment Australia.

According to the group, "this effectively allows the Environment Minister, Senator Murray Watt, to approve a proposal without assessing the risk it poses to public health."
