DEA joined the RANZCP, the Black Dog Institute, and others in signing an open letter warning children's concerns about climate change should not be pathologised as an anxiety disorder when it is often a rational reaction to what they are experiencing.
“Research shows that those born in 2020 or later will experience two to seven times more extreme weather events in their lifetime due to climate change than their grandparents,” said Dr Cybele Dey, Sydney-based Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Paediatrician, and Doctors for the Environment Australia Mental Health Special Interest Group Chair.
