Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA) has been promoting the once under-appreciated claim that safeguarding the environment is essential to safeguarding human health for the last 25 years.
A small group of Australian physicians founded DEA after seeing the close connection between human health and the health of the planet. They recognised that human health was being harmed by climate change and environmental degradation, and that doctors should be concerned about this from an ethical and practical standpoint.
