Boiling Cold: Doctors' enviro group launches legal challenge to Woodside's Scarborough

Doctors for the Environment Australia has gone to the Federal Court to seek a judicial review of NOPSEMA's decision to approve the environmental plan of Woodside's Scarborough gas project, expressing concerns regarding its potential greenhouse gas emissions.

The offshore environmental regulator NOPSEMA approved Woodside's operational plan for the Scarborough project in February following 18 months of consultations.

Dr. Kate Wylie, executive director of DEA, stated that NOPSEMA may have acted unlawfully by approving the environmental plan without a comprehensive understanding of how the impacts of the $12.5 billion (AUD 19.6 billion) project would be managed.
