The location with highest risk of bushfire in the Greater Melbourne area is the Dandenong Ranges, with the fire risk there reaching up to 92 percent recently, due to a combination of steep terrain, limited routes of escape and the build of dry fuel.
Air pollutants like bushfire smoke can enter the bloodstream and impact almost every organ in the body, including the brain said Associate Professor Vicki Kotsirilos AM and Doctors for the Environment Australia pollution spokesperson.
“There is no safe level of air pollution and the exposure to emissions…places adults and children at higher risk of premature death,” Kotsirilos told the Eastern Melburnian.
