The Mercury Talking Point: Support your kids in climate strike today

The health of the planet and human health are intimately linked and putting public money into climate-wrecking fossil fuels such as gas is one road map we don't want to follow, writes Dr Anna Seth.  Passive hope is not enough, however. We need to respond to the climate emergency as we would to a disaster, because it is. Show children you care about their future by supporting today's School Strike 4 Climate action.

Multiple peak medical bodies, including DEA and the AMA, have written to the government urging them to set course for a healthy post-COVID economic recovery.

Canberra’s idea that this can be gas-fuelled is a fallacy.

That we can continue to log forests, which are significant carbon storage sinks and vital habitat for our endangered wildlife, is equally outrageous.

If our governments and corporations take urgent steps we can hope for a safer future.

Dr Anna Seth is a Kingston GP and a member of Doctors for the Environment Australia.
