Submission to the EES for the proposed AGL/APA Gas Import Jetty and Pipeline Project at Western Port, Victoria

AGL and APA are seeking approval for the building of an LNG import facility and pipeline in Western Port, Victoria. The area is environmentally sensitive, in the middle of a Ramsar wetland, and has generated fierce community, Council and MP opposition. DEA's Submission.

The proposal is a fossil fuel infrastructure project that will lock in Victorian gas use for the next decades, completely at odds with our RET’s of 50% renewables by 2030, and the urgent need to reduce emissions to address our climate health emergency. DEA has provided a submission to the Environmental Effects Statement, concluding that the project poses unacceptable risks to community health and the environment, which the EES has failed to properly address.
