Article by David Shearman and William Castleden
Since DEA began in 2002, it has been using its medical expertise to raise awareness of the dependence of our wellbeing on a healthy and stable planet, and is now a leading and credible voice in this area.
In this MJA article, co-founders David Shearman and William Castleden give a timely overview of the organisation’s aims and advocay work, provide insights into the challenges ahead and pay special tribute to the many dynamic medical students and young doctors who have joined the organisation, and who will lead it into the future.
The two authors also reiterate the urgent need for all medical professionals to speak out strongly about the health hazards of climate change, and to consider lending their support to DEA by becoming members if they’re not already.
