Doctors have warned of profound links between a hotter climate and health problems amid moves to protect people from worsening conditions.
Newcastle physician Dr John Van Der Kallen is among a group of doctors attending Parliament House in Canberra on Tuesday to raise awareness about the issue.
To coincide with the event, Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA) released a report on the effects of climate change on mental health.
"When it's hot and humid, people don't sleep so well". Dr Van Der Kallen said, "Their pain, wellbeing and ability to function gets worse and they feel more tired."
