People in and around Newcastle are facing a number of issues, for example:
- wind farms, particularly in the electorate to the north of Newcastle (Paterson)
- nuclear, the Hunter valley is one of the proposed sites for a nuclear power reactor
- coal dust, especially in the Upper Hunter
- transition of communities to clean jobs
- home insurance and cost of living connected to climate events - the Hunter is in the top 10 most vulnerable region
Local GP, Dr Jane Morgan will host vital discussions on the following:
- Professor Lauraute Nick Talley (DEA Board Chair) will present the most pressing and undeniable evidence behind the health impacts of climate change;
