Did you see the ABC’s Matter Of Fact program on Australia’s preparedness for extreme weather events? DEA’s WA Chair Dr George Crisp, one of the experts on the panel, spoke about the health toll of climate change; the Government’s continued inaction on curbing global warming in the face of local and international extreme weather events; challenged myths about the so-called costs of power; and also highlighted that the solution to the climate chaos is not a technical issue but a political one.
Dr Crisp appeared with Joelle Gergis, a climate scientist from the The University of Melbourne and author of Sunburnt Country; as well as Claire Taylor from the NSW Nationals.
The program occurred on the eve of the COAG meeting about the National Energy Guarantee (NEG).
